Dental Assisting At Northwest Health Careers
Northwest Health Careers’ Dental Assisting program prepares you for the wonderful and challenging profession of dental assisting. As time goes on, the scope of the dental assisting profession continues to broaden significantly in every dental office. We have seen, especially in Las Vegas, the duties and responsibilities of the dental assistant become much more expansive and comprehensive.
This program not only teaches you how to work for a Dentist, but how to become an integral part of a dental health care team. The curriculum combines classroom lecture with practical dental laboratory experience, allowing the student to have a comprehensive understanding of their professional expectations.
Upon completion of the coursework you will receive on the job training at an off site dental facility. During this externship, you will encounter real patients and put the knowledge you have gained to the ultimate test. Our instructor teaches the students about the proper professionalism and chairside manner required to work in a dental office and as a result our students typically excel in the externship arena. We encourage our students to treat this experience as an extended job interview and we have seen an overwhelming percentage of them gain employment at their externship site.
National Success
After you successfully complete your training at Northwest Health Careers you will receive a diploma which qualifies you to sit for a certification exam. Our dental assistants are qualified to sit for the RDA exam administered by the American Medical Technologists (AMT). Having the opportunity to take these examinations is an important aspect of achieving professional success as a dental assistant. Dental assistants who are certified have increased employment opportunities and are qualified to gain employment at prestigious dental facilities.
