Philosophy
Northwest Health Careers’ Medical Assisting program prepares you
to enter into the exciting profession of medical assisting.
As the health care industry continues to grow, more qualified and well-trained
medical assistants will be necessary to ensure quality care for the patients.
At Northwest Health Careers, we believe our graduates are on the forefront of
this challenge. Our program is taught by a licensed physician and as a result
our students receive a unique and valuable prospective regarding the expectations
of this wonderful profession. You will learn first hand how to provide much needed
assistance to any Physician you work for over the course of your career.
Instruction is provided with a combination of classroom lectures, laboratory
practicals, front office computer based training, and simulated back office proficiency
exams. The curriculum will give you the academic and hands on training necessary
to become an integral part of a medical office, surgical center, private practice
and in some cases even a hospital setting.
Upon completion of the coursework you will receive on the job training at an
off site medical facility. During this externship, you will encounter real patients
and put the knowledge you have gained to the ultimate test. Our instructor teaches
the students about the proper professionalism and bedside manner required to
work in a medical office and as a result our students typically excel in the
externship arena. We encourage our students to treat this experience as an extended
job interview and we have seen an overwhelming percentage of them gain employment
at their externship site.
National Success
After you successfully complete your training at Northwest Health Careers you
will receive a diploma which qualifies you to sit for a certification exam.
Northwest Health Careers is the only private school in the state of Nevada
whose graduates are allowed to sit for both the CMA and RMA certification
examinations. Having the opportunity to take these examinations is an important
aspect of achieving professional success as a medical assistant. Medical
assistants who are certified have increased employment opportunities and
are qualified to gain employment at prestigious medical facilities. Our graduates
have achieved tremendous success on these examinations and have far surpassed
both State and National averages.
