Northwest Health Careers’ Medical Assisting program prepares you to enter into the exciting profession of medical assisting. As the health care industry continues to grow in Las Vegas and across the country, more qualified, trained and certified medical assistants will be necessary to ensure quality care for the patients. At Northwest Health Careers, we believe our graduates are on the forefront of this challenge and have accepted the challenge of improving health care in Las Vegas and all over the country!
Our program has been developed by physicians, nurses and medical assistants, and as a result our students receive a unique and valuable perspective regarding the expectations of this wonderful profession. With the diverse patient population in Las Vegas, Nevada, the students have to be prepared to assist in all different medical specialties. The medical assisting students will learn first hand how to provide much needed assistance to any Physician they work for over the course of their career in health care.
Instruction is provided with a combination of classroom lectures, laboratory practicals, front-office computer based training, and simulated medical back office proficiency exams. The curriculum will give you the academic and hands on training necessary to become an integral part of any medical office, surgical center, private practice and in some cases even a hospital setting.
Upon completion of the coursework you will receive on the job training at an off site medical facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. During this externship, you will encounter real patients and put the knowledge you have gained in the medical assisting program to the ultimate test. Our instructors teach the students about the proper professionalism and bedside manner required to work in any medical office. As a result our medical assistant students tend to excel in the externship component of Northwest Health Careers' medical assisting program. We encourage our students to treat this experience as an extended job interview and we have seen an overwhelming percentage of them gain employment at their externship site!
National Success
After you successfully complete your training at Northwest Health Careers you will receive a diploma which qualifies you to sit for a certification exam. Northwest Health Careers medical assisting students are eligible to take the Certified Medical Assisting (CMA) Exam offered through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Having the opportunity to take these examinations is an important aspect of achieving professional success as a medical assistant. Medical assistants who are certified have increased employment opportunities and are qualified to gain employment at prestigious medical facilities.

For the convenience of our students Northwest Health Careers offers both day and evening programs.
The evening class meets Monday – Thursday from 6PM – 10PM.
Evening students are expected to complete the Medical Assisting program in 40 weeks.
