Medical Insurance Specialist At Northwest Health Careers

Northwest Health Careers’ Medical Billing and Coding program prepares you for the exciting and challenging profession of insurance billing and coding. Unique to Northwest Health Careers, the program incorporates on-line learning, in class guided instruction and hands-on training to provide the student with a comprehensive medical billing education. At Northwest Health Careers we understand how hard it is to attend school around a busy work or family schedule, and as a result this program is designed to allow the student to complete their training at their own pace.

Upon completion of the coursework you will receive on the job training at Northwest Health Careers in the form of an internship. During this internship the students will be evaluating actual medical EOB’s and insurance statements and will be required to perform live billing. After this experience the students will go off site to serve an externship in which you will encounter real patient files and put the knowledge you have gained to the ultimate test.

Our instructor and internship coordinator prepare the students for the intricacies of medical billing and as a result our students typically excel in the externship arena. We encourage our students to treat this experience as an extended job interview and we have seen an overwhelming percentage of them gain employment at their externship site.

National Success

After you successfully complete your training at Northwest Health Careers you will receive a diploma which qualifies you to sit for a certification exam. Having the opportunity to take these examinations is an important aspect of achieving professional success as a medical insurance specialist. Medical billers who are certified have increased employment opportunities and are qualified to gain employment at prestigious billing facilities including hospitals, medical or dental practices, hospital or surgical centers.
